Disappointed, July 9, 2008

This review is from: Coleman 4D Dual Action WideBeam Flashlight (Sports)
We have a dual action Coleman flashlight that is over 10 years old and is still going great. A few plastic pieces are missing, so we decided to get a newer version. We ordered this item. It’s very attractive. But when we loaded it up with batteries, only the lantern was working, so we thought that the bulb for the flashlight was bad. No problem we can change that. Before we got to do that however, the flashlight was sitting on a table in “off” mode, and all of a sudden the lantern turned on by itself. The control switch could not turn it off. We had to remove the batteries. I eventually tested the bulb in our other older reliable Coleman and nothing is wrong with it. So it means that the flashlight part is not working. It has a label on it which says “China”, so maybe that is where it was made. Beware!!

Best light for blackouts, August 20, 2006

I have one of these stashed in each room and in the trunk of the car. In rolling blackout season you can safely illuminate a surprisingly wide area with one light. They’re very bright and the base is stable so you can easily set them upright to shine up at the ceiling like a lamp without them falling over. The fact that it doubles as both a flashlight and a lantern makes this product a lot more useful than the standard Coleman lantern (or a regular flashlight) to me. For the other reviewer: to insert batteries you will need a screwdriver or a coin. There’s a big screw toward the front of the flashlight that you remove to pop off the main light and insert the batteries.

Streamlight Stinger: Great rechargeable light, March 5, 2003
By HunkaBurninLove (Silicon Valley, CA United States) –
This review is from: Streamlight 75014 Stinger Rechargeable Flashlight with Charger, Black (Tools & Home Improvement)
The Stinger is a great rechargeable light. It’s small yet provides a bright amount of light for about an hour. With the adjustable lens, you can choose a floodlight or spotlight. The Stinger comes with two charging cradles and an AC cord and DC cord so you can have one in your car and one at home. Therefore you can always have your Stinger charging to be used whenever you need it. The extra bulb in the tailcap is also nice.+’s: small, bright, fits easy in your hands, adjustable beam, 1 hour run time, you can charge the battery without taking it out of the flashlight, charging cradles allow you to place the flashlight from the top or “snapped” in from the front.-’s: long charge time unless you buy the “fast” charger. If you need to constantly use a flashlight that is small but powerful (security guard, handyman, plumber), the Stinger will not disappoint you. The rechargeable battery will save you money in the long run.Although expensive, it is good quality and I would buy this flashlight again. For a brighter light, check out the Stinger HP which is rated almost 3 times as bright.

The Best Light I own, October 3, 2005
By Noboru “Argonaut” (PA, USA) –
This review is from: Streamlight 75014 Stinger Rechargeable Flashlight with Charger, Black (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is the best flash light I own. I carry it on duty with me every shift I work dropped it I so many times I lost count never replaced the bulb or battery pack. Very cost effective. Awesome! Ok Update I retired the light after 8 years of service. It still works and is now a house light. I still use it from time to time around the house for odd jobs. I could have continued to use it for duty but the allure of a new light was to much. I replaced it with a Stinger LED.

Excellent Product, January 27, 2006

I used to buy at least 2 to 3 compact flashlights per year and countless batteries. In my line of work, I may need light 2 feet away or up to 30 feet away. The streamlight is excellent for putting a beam of light on a distant object. High initial cost but, you’ll save it in batteries (and frustration) with standard flashlights. Standard flashlights (especially of the same size) don’t even come close to the brightness. My 4 ‘D’ cell Mag lite isn’t as bright as this light. Convenient car charger if you’re on-the-go.

Not durable; un-reliable, September 18, 2008
By RockLobster (Clear Lake/Bay Area, TX) –
This review is from: Coleman 4D Dual Action WideBeam Flashlight (Sports)
I wanted a flashlight-lantern combination for power outages and camping. I found only two models of this type in my area and went with the Coleman. I’ve used it three times and on the last time in my time of need: (Hurricane Ike and the ensuing power failure), this thing failed me. Thought it was the battery but it was not. It is the switch. The switch won’t activate the light. Luckily, I had another one but a different model that I’ve used for many years that keeps coming through for me. The fit and finish of the coleman seems flimsy….almost frail. This product shouldn’t use the coleman name. Get something else that is more durable and reliable.
