The Best Tactical Light for the Money, August 29, 2010

I reviewed and compared all handheld tactical lights available on the internet and at local dealers. I decided that the Guard Dog provided the best value, durability, and most lumens compared to everything else on the the market. Wow! It’s extremely bright, it actually causes pain to anyone who gets this shined in there eyes, even at over 20 feet.(Not Recommended Unless Used In Self-defense.) It is easily recharged and the nicely machined housing allows you to set it on it’s side without it rolling around. I teach self-defense and this is a perfect addition to the non-lethal self-defense arsenal. The bright light ruins an attackers night vision and the strobe effect is very disorienting. The housing allows good grip/control and is ideal for pressure point tactics. I plan on buying several more.

A well known sportsmans supply store has the Guard Dog 240 on “sale” for $49.95 plus $10 +/- shipping. I got it at Amazon for $29.95 including shipping! The light is better than I thought it might be; It’s pretty well made and has a smooth and VERY bright beam, plus it has a lower power beam and a strobe beam as well. It’s not quite the quality of my Surefire or Stream Light lights, but a good rechargeable flashlight for 30 bucks it definitely is. The only thing not good, is that there is no mention of who makes it or where they are.

Guard Dog Security 240 Lumen Tactical Flashlight, January 14, 2011

Love the flashlight. Super bright. Not impressed with the compass in the battery cap. It fell out and it leaves the end opened to the battery. I used a penny to fill this opening and all is well. All in all great light for the price.

Incredibly bright, December 26, 2010

This review is from: Streamlight 88033 Protac Tactical Flashlight 2AA with White LED Includes 2 “AA” Alkaline Batteries and Holster, Black (Tools & Home Improvement)

This flashlight is the brightest one of it’s size that I have ever seen. It’s only powered by two AA batteries. Brighter than any 5 D cell Maglite I have ever owned. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a compact bright light.

Should you need a quality and durable strong intensity light in a small size, you cannot go wrong with this stick. Easy to replace batteries, nice design and very functional and easy to grip. Even has a sturdy pocket clip. If Streamlight makes it, its good to go.

The main selling point, to me, is that it uses AA batteries. I use rechargeables in my camera flash and it is nice always having fresh batteries around. Sure beats buying expensive and unique batteries. The strobe and low power modes are nice as well. Don’t know it the strobe is practical but it is fun to play with :) The only downside to the light is that it is somewhat pricey and enough though it says 120 lumens it isn’t as bright as my other Streamlight flashlight (also 120 lumens). But it is bright enough to do the job.
