I’ve had this flashlight for about 6 months, and also the central (and bright) white light has stopped working. I disassembled it and discovered a large amount of corrosion built up on the contacts for the white light – no idea where it came from as this flashlight has not been exposed to water. One other member of my unit reported the same problem with his. It could be a design flaw, be warned.

Yes, this is an costly flashlight….but it completely delivers on each and every penny. It seriously is the perfect flashlight for any pilot. The white spot is focused at all ranges, and will blow any Mag-Lite out of the water. The LED works excellent as well when you need a lot more subtle lighting – the green version is NVG-compliant.

Making use of lithium batteries is fantastic….They have a 10-year shelf life, so you never have to worry about a them acquiring dim over time.

Seriously an awesome, awesome, professional flashlight. It’s built like a tank and performs all the time – accept no substitutes.

It’s Worth consideration

Whilst this light is high-priced, I believe it is 1 of the best out there.

I had mine around my neck, via included lanyard (take off the plastic ring and put lanyard directly on light to make sure you don’t lose A2), during the long weekend N.E. blackout of 2008.

It was invaluable to have and also the red LED saves battery to maximize use. The design enables the light to be on continuous color or white light by turning the front end and rear, or keep it ‘off’ for 1 handed thumb use. Although I employed a Mini Mag for deployment to Iraq, I wish I had this light on my web gear.

Standby battery life really disappointing

I love the dual light feature on this flashlight. Low level red for astronomical use and highpower white light for other normal use.

Even so the battery drains slowly when inside the off state resulting in a flashlight that’s not useable when very first turned on after sitting for awhile (like a number of months).

This ought to not be for such a high top quality light. Surefire replaced the light assembly, but to no improvement. They do not test for idle switch drain at all.

Can’t believe a hi-tech light isn’t checked for that! Buyer beware that the battery may be drained after being off for a number of months in storage!!
