it’s good,but….

I’ve had this flashlight for about 6 months, and also the central (and bright) white light has stopped working. I disassembled it and discovered a large amount of corrosion built up on the contacts for the white light – no idea where it came from as this flashlight has not been exposed to water. One other member of my unit reported the same problem with his. It could be a design flaw, be warned.

Purchased this while on deployment. its extremely bright, you can feel the heat off of the xenon light. the led’s supply enough light to light a decent area but not quite focused enough.

The xenon supplies a flood light type light. can easily blind someone in darkness.

Standby battery life really disappointing

I love the dual light feature on this flashlight. Low level red for astronomical use and highpower white light for other normal use.

Even so the battery drains slowly when inside the off state resulting in a flashlight that’s not useable when very first turned on after sitting for awhile (like a number of months).

This ought to not be for such a high top quality light. Surefire replaced the light assembly, but to no improvement. They do not test for idle switch drain at all.

Can’t believe a hi-tech light isn’t checked for that! Buyer beware that the battery may be drained after being off for a number of months in storage!!

Small and convenient

I got this flashlight just after my U2. It’s convenient on the keychain with the lanyard. I can lean over something to shine the light on it, if I need both hands free. Someone at another website pointed out that it might damage auto ignition locks, because it’s quite heavy dangling on the keychain.

The light is not nearly as bright as the U2, but it’s superior to most other flashlights. It would have been handy to have the ring already attached.

Backup really works well

This review is from:SureFire E1B Backup E1B-BK-WH LED Flashlight

The Surefire E1B Backup is a wonderful flashlight.

Bright enough to blind an attacker at night and compact enough to carry everywhere it should never leave your side. The low intensity setting allows for good utility when super bright is not required.

The smooth finish really does not tear up pants like the usual knurled finish on the surefire flashlights, no more frayed pocket edges. The clip is also a big improvement allowing for tip up or tip down carry as well as clipping the Backup to your ball cap for hands free use.

I’ve had it for about a month now and I can’t imagine being without my backup. Highly recommended.
